Upgrade Oracle Home 19c Software (19.3 to 19.12)

This articles explains the steps to upgrade the Oracle Database Home 19c just software only from 19.3 to 19.12 within Oracle Linux 8.4

Database Release Update 19.12.0.0.210720 Patch 32904851

Last Update, September 10, 2021

There are some prerequisites:

“You must use the OPatch utility version 12.2.0.1.25 or later to apply this patch.” from READ ME of the Patch 32904851

Step 1: Upgrade the Opatch:

OPatch 12.2.0.1.27 for DB 19.0.0.0.0

Step 2: Check the Database release update:

$ /u01/app/oracle/product/19.1.0/dbhome_1/OPatch/opatch lspatches
 29585399;OCW RELEASE UPDATE 19.3.0.0.0 (29585399)
 29517242;Database Release Update : 19.3.0.0.190416 (29517242)

OPatch succeeded.

Step 3: Download the patch 32904851 from MOS.


Step 4: unzip the patch file

$ unzip p32904851_190000_Linux-x86-64.zip

Step 5: Apply the patch 32904851

$ /u01/app/oracle/product/19.1.0/dbhome_1/OPatch/opatch apply

Step 6: Check the database release update:

OPatch succeeded.
